The three sorting systems are:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">1) A Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) system to distinguish and separate cast and wrought Aluminium alloys.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2) A\u00a0LIBS system to distinguish and separate Magnesium and individual Aluminium alloys series.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3) A\u00a0Magnetic Induction Tensor Spectroscopy (MITS) and a 3D\u00a0Vision system\u00a0to identify and separate Cu alloys, Al alloys, and stainless steels fragments.<\/p>\n<p>The first LIBS sorting line became operational in April 2016.\u00a0The remaining two sorting systems, are under construction, and will be operational by September 2016, prior to the validation of all three systems in commercial shredder plants from Oct-Dec 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The SME partners and end-users in the project aim to commercialize and use the systems in ELV and other recycling applications including demolition and construction waste, industrial scrap, and waste electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Know more at cordis:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/news\/rcn\/134556_en.html?WT.mc_id=email-Notification\">http:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/news\/rcn\/134556_en.html?WT.mc_id=email-Notification<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SHREDDERSORT consortium is almost completing the construction of three individual sorting systems for the recycling of End of Live Vehicles scrap.
